Humans are meant to be afraid of bears, not the other way around. That’s the theory. The reality is a little different, of course. This bear from the town of Truckee, California, got spooked by a couple of cars while crossing Rainbow Bridge, and made the snap (slightly illadvised) decision to leap over the parapet to escape. This left it hanging from the underside of the bridge for a good 24 hours until it was rescued and lowered safely to the ground. Click on the photo for a picture gallery of the daring (and for the bear, slightly humiliating) rescue.

Wow. That’s such a feel-good. But you dis that bear so unfairly. Twenty-four hours! That’s resolve! A potential multi-car pile-up and injury to the bear averted through the use of a public service not even most people would have thought of. And all in a split-second judgment. Send that bear to CENTCOM! “Very little brain” indeed.
OMG. That is the funniest thing ever. I especially love the “sheepish” grin at then end. HILARIOUS.
