Anne Holden

Anne is from the highly underrated part of America known as The Mid-West, which she firmly believes has much to offer if people would just come visit once in a while. However, Anne has left her ancestral home of St. Louis, Missouri, and is currently the postdoctoral scholar at the National Center for Science Education in San Francisco, where she helps defend the teaching of evolution in public schools.

She comes to San Francisco following several years at Cambridge University, where she learned to enjoy the finer things in life, such as beans on toast and a nice frothy pint. In between trips to the pub, she also completed her PhD in Biological Anthropology.

While at Cambridge, Anne discovered her passion for science communication, and has worked with several science communication and science policy organizations in the UK, including as Sense about Science and the Scientific Alliance. She has also written for the online popular science magazine, The Naked Scientist.

Her failure to develop an English accent and a need to see the sun again brought Anne back stateside. She is a self-described geek with a rather scary knowledge of all things related to Star Trek, of which she has no shame whatsoever. Her secret dream is to be a contestant on the game show Jeopardy!
