Anne Holden

Anne is from the highly underrated part of America known as The Mid-West, which she firmly believes has much to offer if people would just come visit once in a while. However, Anne has left her ancestral home of St. Louis, Missouri and is currently a science writer for DNAdirect, where she creates educational tools for genomic medicine. She comes to San Francisco following several years at Cambridge University, where she learned to enjoy the finer things in life, such as beans on toast and a nice frothy pint. In between trips to the pub, she also completed her PhD in Biological Anthropology. Her failure to develop an English accent and a need to see the sun again brought Anne back stateside. Following a short stint a postdoctoral researcher at UC-Berkeley, she started down the long and dusty road from academia to science writing. Over the past several years, Anne has defended the teaching of evolution at the National Center for Science Education, and helped thousands of people unlock the secrets of their DNA as a science writer for 23andMe. She is a self-described geek with a rather scary knowledge of all things related to Star Trek, of which she has no shame whatsoever. Her secret dream is to be a contestant on the game show Jeopardy!
